Matthew-Lee Erlbach

RESUME

Matthew-Lee Erlbach is a writer, actor, activist and director from Chicago and New York, whose work often focuses on erased histories as well as the impact of technological revolutions on capital, labor, race, spirituality, and democratic movements. He also writes dark comedy.

Erlbach has worked in several writers rooms including Masters of Sex for Showtime and Gypsy for Netflix. He was hired to produce We Are the Champions for Netflix which held a top ranking for the streamer in unscripted. Erlbach is developing television with Sony, Killer Films and Mermade. He is also the writer/director of Human Interest which won “Best Digital Short Series” at SeriesFest.

As a playwright, Erlbach’s play The Doppelgänger (An International Farce), premiered to a sold-out run at Steppenwolf Theatre in Chicago; it starred Rainn Wilson and was directed by Tina Landau. He is currently developing additional plays for Steppenwolf including a political drama entitled Revelations, as well as an upcoming project that Tony Award-winning Artistic Director, Anna D. Shapiro, will direct. Erlbach’s plays have been developed and produced by The New Group, Vineyard, Ars Nova, MCC, Williamstown, NYTW, the Orchard Project, and SPACE on Ryder Farm, among others.
